About Us

Established on November 6, 1993, the St. Pete MAD DOGS Triathlon Club is a not-for-profit organization designed to promote the sport of triathlon. The club is comprised of fun-loving triathletes who train, race and howl together with members of all levels of experience and expertise.

We are proud to count 4000 + members–throughout the country and internationally. Our members are each assigned a number: once your Mad Dog number is assigned, it can never be given to someone else.

The club is incorporated in the state of Florida as a 501(c)7. Nine members are elected each October to run the club as a Board of Director for one year (they may subsequently run for re-election).

We hold several events throughout the year, but we are perhaps best known for our Wednesday Night Swim & Social at Pass-A-Grille Beach in St. Pete Beach during Daylight Saving Time. On the Wednesday prior to St. Anthony’s Triathlon, we also hold our bikini run in conjunction with the swim. It goes without saying this is the best-attended Wednesday swim, hitting the water in front of the beautiful Don CeSar resort, gathering casually after training for a barbecue and informal social.
